Title: Representatives of the American wine industry visit Samos
Important personalities of the American wine world visited the U.W.C. Samos on the 4th and 5th of June. The visitors had the opportunity, during a tour of the island, to have a thorough picture of the situation and elevation of the Samos vineyards. They were guided more particularly at the vineyards of the village of Platanos, at an altitude of 700 to 800 meters. They were hosted by the General Manager and Chemist-Oenologist, Mr. Emmanouil Tsakalakis, the Agronomist and Responsible of the Primary Sector, Mr. Ilias Kariotoglou and by the Sales Manager, Mr. Yiannis Parassiris who answered a lot of questions concerning the cultivation, the vinification and the global commercialization of the U.W.C. Samos wine. There followed a visit to the Samian Wine Museum and a wine tasting under the guidance of Mr. Tsakalakis, a stroll in the picturesque village of Pythagorion during which the opportunity was given for conversations about commercial topics with some of the visitors to take place. The U.W.C.Samos exports for many years in the U.S. and has steady sales figures in some of its states. There will always be room for growth, however, more specifically now that the American consumers have started to trust the quality and particularity of Greek wine and are open to the tasting of wines originating from different parts of Greece.
