The Samos Wine Museum it is housed in a magnificent 19th-century stone building, which, before the establishment of the Cooperative, served first as a wine warehouse and later as a cooperage. It was converted into a museum in 2005 and, since then, has displayed exhibits that define Samian wine: mountain vineyards and terraced landscapes, manual labor, the harvest and the wine press, winemaking and ageing, large wooden wine tanks from the last century, collectible bottles, old photographs and production records, cooperage utensils and tools, old winemaking machinery, as well as a series of awards and distinctions.
Its layout, designed according to contemporary museological principles, takes visitors on a journey through Samos’s long-standing viticultural tradition. Through its exhibits, it presents the full historical, social, and cultural story of Samian wine.
Traditional winemaking methods, tools, tanks, chemical instruments, and barrel-making practices are brought to life through exhibits dating back more than a century. Of particular interest is the realistic representation of vine cultivation on dry-stone terraces. The huge wooden tanks, among the most striking exhibits, were still in use until a few decades ago.
The Wine Museum is open to the public and also hosts wine tastings. It additionally features a fully equipped conference room.
