CREATION OF A DISTILLATION AND DISTILLERY FACILITY
THE UNITED AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE OF SAMOS (EOS Samos) collects, vinifies and markets almost all of the wine production of Samos. It is one of the oldest cooperatives in Greece and is among the 10 largest wineries in the country. Samian wine is a key wine ambassador of Greece abroad, with exports all over the world.
The cooperative is constantly modernizing and investing in technology and know-how, combining them harmoniously with the tradition of viticulture and winemaking.
The next stage of development of the EOSS is the creation of a distillation and distillery facility. The tsipouro that will be produced from the Moschato Samos variety will be a product of taste and aroma, which is expected to be well received by the consumer public. The building of the Old Olive Tanks of the EOSS, one of the Cooperative's buildings in Karlovasi, will be modified and equipped with the appropriate machinery in order to house the new activity.
The business plan includes expenses for the building upgrade of the facilities, in order to meet the needs of the distillery. All necessary works have been foreseen, in order to create a modern production area, which will meet all the hygiene and safety requirements for the production of the new product, with respect for the environment, the traditional art of distillation and the employees of the unit. The production area will be accessible for disabled people. The total budget of the project is €670,270.00.
The building works will include the construction of an industrial floor, wall coatings and coverings, installation of window frames, construction of a fire-resistant double false ceiling, plumbing and electrical installations. Thermal insulation of the external surfaces of the building facilities will also be installed to achieve a higher energy efficiency factor compared to the minimum requirements in the current national and EU institutional framework. It is planned to create a staff-visitor toilet as well as a toilet for disabled people.
The mechanical equipment will include all the required machinery and tools for the distillation and creation of tsipouro (winer, tanks, etc.), production monitoring systems, building security systems, fire safety installation. The entire production process will be certified through the ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System. A new recognizable brand and corresponding promotional materials will be created to promote and advertise the new product. The submission of the support application and the proper implementation of the investment plan will be undertaken by a specialized consulting company.
THE INVESTMENT IS IMPLEMENTED WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE NATIONAL RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE PLAN "GREECE 2.0", WITH FUNDING FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION – NextGenerationEU
