The "Primordial Soils" of the 2021 harvest come from the ancestral, mountainous vineyard of Vasiliou, which extends to the "Prosilia" area of Platanos. The grapes were selected by hand by the whole family, in the early morning hours. The vineyard has a northwest exposure, at an altitude of 670 meters, with acidic, gravelly and shale soils.

Producer Nikolaos Vasiliou has been cultivating his family's "Primordial Soils" since he was a child, in an admirable sequence of generations of viticulture of old vines of Samian Muscat that began with his great-grandfather and grandfather, continued with his father and himself, and is now being passed on to his son Stamatis and his grandchildren. The youngest, 14-year-old Kostis, states strongly: «No matter what I do in my life, I will not abandon my grandfather's vineyards!»

Excellent balance of sugars - acidity - alcohol.

Primordial Soils Vintage 2021

A mineral expression of an exceptional vineyard with hard limestone and flint soils, this wine surprises with its breadth, finesse and long aftertaste. The initially botanical nose (forest, pine needles) evolves into more complex aromas of orange zest, exotic spices, butter and brioche as the wine opens in the glass. In the mouth, the volume, breadth and texture are impressive from the outset for a wine that in no way resembles a conventional dry Muscat. Earthy, peppery and spicy notes blend harmoniously with unexpectedly warm oiliness and complex aromas, while a mosaic of acidity, minerality and fruit ensures robustness and structure in this wine, the destination of which can only be fine dining.
